While I was laying on the couch this past Sunday evening, our 11 year-old cat Coal perched herself atop her favorite chair to survey what was going on in the world outside.

Coal rarely ventures outside and rarely shows any interest in the outdoors. And, when upon occasion guests happen by, Coal is heading for the basement before the doorbell stops chiming.

The light was interesting, and my phone was nearby, so I snapped her photo. I like it ’cause it underscores her enigmatic, elusive nature.
