Over the course of three days this past week, Pueblo received about a foot of snow from a pair of early winter storms and flirted with sub-zero temperatures. I haven’t been here long enough to call that unusual, but in asking the old-timers ’round here about these two weather events, they seemed impressed by the snowfall amounts.
The National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office is reporting Pueblo’s had 18.6 inches of snow thus far in December. Normally, Pueblo gets about four inches of snow during the month.
My shoveling duties and extreme temperatures kept me from taking the dogs out on our daily run Thursday, but we did hit the Redgate Friday.
Initially, both Reina and Rafa were having a pretty good time romping in the snow. Rafa takes a “damn the torpedoes” approach to our hikes; he’ll go up, over, and through most anything like a 50-pound, four-wheel drive jeep, and the snow just adds to his adventure. The same usually applies to Reina as well, but given her “petite build,” she really had to work to keep up Friday due to the depth of the snow.
