Colorado is no stranger to wildfire. It seems as though not a summer passes without at least one fire incident of at least 5,000 acres in size taking place. Fires have been known to occur during winter as well, like the Mauricio Canyon fire near Aguilar, Colo. It burned over 5,000 acres in January, 2006. A six-inch snowfall helped firefighters put out that blaze.
